何を読んでるの?まじキモい!

So for the final assignment in my Medieval Japanese course, we were allowed to do another creative piece~

I really wanted to break from the confines of reality and add a dash of the fantastic to the muromachi period. Thankfully, there are plenty of tales of kami, mononoke and youkai to go around!

So, if a kemonomimi kirino isn't enough of a giveaway, lets get right to it!

D-Don't get any ideas, ok! I just happen to be showing you this, that's all!

Neko-Mimi and Twintails? まじきもい!
So, its not like I like you guys or anything, or wanted to show this to you. I just happened to have it and my hand slipped, so, like... don't read into it or anything, baka...

Awww who am I kidding, I love you guys! This was an assignment for my 3rd year Medieval Japanese History course. I had to write a short story that accurately depicted warrior life in the Kamakura period, and make it both entertaining as well as indicative of the period. I did pretty well on it, but personally I was a bit unsatisfied. It was shorter than I'd have liked, and a bit too shallow.

But the dialogue wasn't bad, and some of the scenes turned out pretty decently I think. Due to poor planning, I wrote it start to finish is just over a day >_>... not the ideal spot to be in, but hey, it worked out!

Never the less, Just thought I'd chronicle it here for the time being. Let me know what you think!

Also, in the not distant future I'll be writing another piece, hopefully longer and more fleshed out also from a similar pre-sengoku period. This time though it'll be rife with kami and all manner of spirits and speak to the heavy superstition among the people at the time - think mononoke hime! 楽しんでね~

I-Its not like I wanted to show you this because I like you, Baka!

Irrelevant-Kirino or Always-Totally-Relevant-Kirino?
と、とにかくちゃんと読みなさいよ。バカ兄貴!
Way back when, I was enamored with the idea of forum-based RPGs. Complete with somewhat elaborate game systems, levels, equipment and items, combat stats - the whole 9 yards. And don't get me wrong, I STILL think that kind of thing is awesome, but as with everything in life, it comes down to a matter of time and not enough hours in the day.

But none the less, to the point of the matter. In my semi-recent rekindling of my writing spark I came across a post I had worked on for a Naruto RPG. We had to have a character approved, and then if we wanted them to belong to a specific established ninja clan, write a post that would showcase our ability to role-play to maintain a sense of prestige or quality. That said, this was my application to become a member of the Hyuuga clan - showcasing my characters discovery of her Byakugan, and a realization that she had been a Hyuuga all along.

Its by no means perfect and remains in its unedited state from a few years ago, however I do think its at least on the right track to being good~

Enjoy this bite-sized writing sample and stay tuned for more Sword Arte Online!
